Alan and Diane Elder opened their first juice bar in 2001. They couple currently own and operate two juice bars, located in the Roanoke Valley. Elderberry's menu contains a large selection of smoothies and wraps. Both meat lovers and vegetarians will find food choices that meet their specifications. The family owned business has won a number of awards over the last few years, including the Roanoker Magazine's platinum award for best smoothie (several times).

Little Green Hive Coffee and Smoothie Bar

Little Green Hive is independently owned and operated. It is both a coffee house and a juice bar. Customers can choose from a wide assortment of smoothies, teas, and coffee blends. Little Green Hive also sells pastries and other goodies, including gluten free items. The juice bar is located in "historic downtown Roanoke, Va." Visitors to Roanoke City can stop by for a cup of coffee or a smoothie, before they begin their sightseeing tour of the historic buildings in the area.

Smoothie King is a national chain and has been in business for decades. There are more than 650 Smoothie King franchises, located in the U.S., as well as in other countries. The company operates a juice bar (smoothie shop) in the Roanoke area. Smoothie King sells a variety of smoothies, as well as some snacks. Unlike the previous entries on this list, Smoothie King is open on Sundays.

Locals who want another juice bar option can head to the Virginia Tech campus. The university, located in Blacksburg, Va, is not technically in the Roanoke Valley; however, Roanokers only have to drive a short ways to reach it.

Once on campus, they will find a Jamba Juice location. The juice bar is part of a national chain. It offers a variety of fruit and vegetable smoothies. The location also sells some selected food items. The juice bar is open on Sundays.
